The Adventure Begins!!!!

So blogging is new to me and mostly this is in place of a mass email so humour me if itsa dry or rambles at times but here goes my first attempt

Well the trip down here was a long and interesting adventure. We departed Vancouver at 1am Friday night and Silan’s parents drove us to the Seattle airport.  Surprisingly baggage and security went very smoothly, our bags were under weight and we didn’t set off any alarms.  After passing through security we heard a little boy who just passed through with his family and he yelled WOOHOO, WOOHOO, WOW, WOOOOOOO! My thoughts exactly, the trip was on its way!

First stop New York City! Silan and I decided to brave the city with9out as map and see all the sights in our 16 hour layover. We actually did fairly well. After dropping off our bags and turning down the 70 yr old man at the airports offer to tell us where the party was at we made our way downtown on the famous NYC subway trains. I thought it would be much like the Vancouver sky train but it was much older, rundown and dirtier. Also you had to go way way down under ground so that was a bit creepy but we survived, only getting lost a few times.

NYC was fun but exhausting. We saw ground zero (currently a construction site for the memorial), took the sunset ferry to Staton Island, and got great photographs of the statue of Liberty.  We saw \time Square and holy sensory overload!!! The amount of people was unreal; it was like the Olympics in Vancouver for just an average times square Saturday night. Everything there has flashing lights and massive signs. It was hard to tell what was the actual store sign and what was just a massive ad. There was even an ad with a full sized car on the side of the building!  Even the NYC police had a sign with flashing lights! After much searching (due to no map) we also found Rockafeller center where we enjoyed a Liz Lemon tribute hotdog  and saw a proposal on an outdoor skating rink. Fun Home Ec fact for you mom… we saw a guy in a completely crocheted pants suit… turns out in some crazy places that’s ok! All in all a jam packed visit.

After that all nighter we hopped on a plane to Barbados, spent a few hours there and then headed to St Vincent. Nicole (our supervisor from Vancouver) met us at the airport took us to our new home and made us dinner. It was a good end to a very long traveling adventure.

Here are just a couple pics of Kingstown.
